More Weights, Less Skating for Kreider During Offseason

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

In a conversation with Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United, Chris Kreider discussed how he prepared physically this past summer for his first full pro season...

"I got in the weight room. Kind of waited to get on the ice. Everyone tells me you don't want to skate too much in the offseason leading up to your first pro season. A lot of guys make that mistake. So, I got on the ice a little later this summer than I normally would. I was a little antsy to get back on the ice. But I think I went about it the right way. Obviously, I asked a lot of guys on the Rangers what they do. How they built strength during the summer."

...this kid never ceases to amaze me. Always looking to learn and be a sponge. And with his physical skills he probably doesn't need the advice. But as the Rangers like to say, he's doing it "the right way."

And what did Kreider's weight room workouts look like?...

Kreider also discussed his new Whale teammates as well as playing with other top Rangers prospects such as JT Miller and Christian Thomas...

Was that the night rider theme song playing in the background? Cause I know when I'm squatting a bus worth of weight I prefer the facts of life song. But to each there own.
