Was told by @dylan_mcilrath that even though he's at least a couple weeks away from skating "I feel really great"..looks in tremendous shape

...got to love hearing this. Lots of Rangers fans on the fence with McIlrath. I've heard some call him a bust, while others think he's the tough, punishing defenseman that the Rangers have been lacking since Beukeboom's departure.
...i agree with those who feel he has a great future ahead of him with the Rangers. Does he still have a lot to work on? Sure. But learning under Beukeboom and yes, Wade Redden should expedite his development into physically dominating defenseman. Every skeptic will fall in love with him the first time he destroys the guy who dares give Lundqvist a snow shower.

Wha is there to be on the fence about?? He was drafted to give the Rangers the blueline, crease-clearing muscle. He's definitly shown that and by most accounts he's improving on the offensive side. We're all salivating over Kreider, yet he was drafted a year before McIlrath. If he can avoid the injury bug, I don't doubt that this kid will be firing up the Garden for years to come.
I watched him play with the Warriors... he's tough all right but one of the dirtiest players I've seen.
Lacking yes but I'm one of the guys that think he will not make the team. Far from a Beuk or a Niedenmeyer...
I know I was one that said he could be a bust. But deep down I think he's gonna beat the tar out of chumps. I hope he makes the team next year because he could be a nice partner for DZ if he signs... McD has Girardi and Staal can have the luck of the draw, hopefully Sauer.
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG Eventhough I think McIlrath will succeed with the Rangers, I wouldn't be shocked if he needed two years with the Whale.
Mcilrath is the prospect I'm looking forward to watching the most...as you said i cannot wait till he pounds the shit out of someone who even looks funny at lundqvist...as we saw in the last playoffs where neal and konopka were all over lundqvist and no one did anything about ti boy could we have used a beuk
@TheNYRBlog That would be pretty awesome. Especially considering McD and DZ are on the offensive minded side.
