Kreider Scores Hat Trick in 4-3 Whale Win

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United breaks down Kreider's performance...

"Quite simply Kreider was explosive at times on Sunday. In the first period he stole a puck at center ice and in an eye-blink he raced up left wing, spinning a defenseman around on a 2-on-1 with Chad Kolarik, before snapping a hard low shot into the back of the cage for an unassisted goal. In the second Kreider flew up the right wing and made a quick backhand centering pass to a cutting Kris Newbury, with the puck bouncing into the net off a Sharks defenseman for Goal No. 2. Then in the third period Kreider ripped another smoking shot from left wing into the cage for the Hat Trick goal, his second Sunday on the power play."

..can't imagine Rangers management asking for a better day with their 2009 first round pick scoring a hat trick while their 2011 first round pick completed the scoring with one of his own. Awesome game for the Rangers franchise and their fans.

Here's video of Kreider after the game...

The only bad news of the day was the continued offensive struggles from Christian Thomas, who Cerny said had a "quiet" game, plus his blind defensive zone pass led directly to a Sharks goal in the second period.

...Thomas is still in the beginning stages of his pro career, so struggles are inevitable, but he needs to start finding the back of the net soon before the Rangers organization starts losing faith in him.

When I read this I was so excited until I remembered that he's with the Whale because the Rangers are locked out. But seriously...how good is this kid!? Man o man what a steal at the 19 pick. And to think I wanted Nazim Kadri!?

That kid is gonna have a long career if the NHL can pull their heads from their posterior.
