Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United reports that after returning to practice on Tuesday Marek Hrivik (undisclosed injury) is pointing to this weekend's games in Norwalk for his return...
"It's going to take a while to get in game shape," explained Hrivik, who did not play in any pre-season games either after suffering an undisclosed injury early in training camp. "But I am hoping to play this weekend (against Norfolk), that's my plan. It's the coach's decision, so we'll see what he says."
Hrivik skated on a line with Kris Newbury and JT Miller.
...Hrivik's return should have an immediate affect on the Whale's offense which, other than Newbury (3 goals) and Jean (2 goals), has been anemic the first two games of the season.
Ryan Bourque also returned to practice this week, but wore a non-contact jersey. Cerny noted that Bourque was shaken up in a training camp collision and missed the final two pre-season contests as well as the first two regular season games.
...Bourque has suffered from concussions the last few years and I'd say it's likely he just had another. Starting to get concerned for this kid's health. We all witnessed first hand with Boogaard how multiple concussions can affect someone.
The other three lines at practice were:
...not even a sniff for Thomas in the preseason or regular season so far. If he can't get it going with Kreider and Jean as linemates, I'm concerned he never will.
The owners do not want to honor the contracts they signed. I'm with the players
