Decent Night for the Baby Rangers
Actual hockey did take place Saturday night as the Whale picked up their first preseason win against the Adirondack Phantoms by a score of 3-1. A livestream of the game was provided by blueshirtsunited.com and Ranger fans were given a one night reprieve from the lockout.
Scoring Summary:
First Period: No Scoring
Second Period:
1-0 CT: (CT) Yogan 1 (Miller, Jean) 6:13
1-1: (ADK) Schenn 1 (Couturier, Gustafsson) 13:08
Third Period:
2-1 CT: (CT) Kolarik 1 (Klassen, Vernace) 19:25
3-1 CT: (CT) Kreider 1 (Segal, Niemi) 19:44 (EN)
Excellent first game for Chris Kreider. He even made his empty netter look pretty blowing by a defender towards the empty net. Not only did Kreider show up on the stat sheet, he was all over the ice, used in every situation and was extremely physical. The kid isn't afraid to get his nose dirty especially against a team like the Phantoms who don't at all mind dropping the gloves.
Here's video of Chad Kolarik's game winner (via Blueshirts United)...
Meanwhile in Edmonton...

Michael St. Croix added on an assist and has 8 points in the first 6 games. Fair to say St. Croix is firmly atop of the Rangers prospect list of guys not named Chris Kreider.
