Back to the Drawing Board for CBA Talks

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

In a bit of CBA news from late last night, the NHLPA revealed that after convening an executive board call yesterday, they requested to meet with the NHL today. Unfortunately, the NHL feels there is no need to meet (via Pro Hockey Talk)...

“They suggested they were willing to meet," NHL assistant Commissioner Bill Daly noted.  "But they also told us they weren’t interested in the proposal made last Tuesday and that they weren’t prepared to make their own proposal. Not sure what we would be meeting about.”

Here's the NHLPA's response from Steve Fehr (via Chris Johnson)...

"The league is apparently unwilling to meet. That is unfortunate as it is hard to make progress without talking."

...day officially ruined before 10 a.m. That's got to be some sort of record.

...to be honest I don't blame the NHL. Why would they meet? It would only give us false hope that something might actually get done to save an 82-game season. Glad that they're crushing our spirit right away.

Just cancel the seaon already! Enough of this bickering going back and forth. Both sides are way too greedy to get a deal done, and they seem determined to set the sport back 10 years, so go ahead already. I'm done with all of it. Let's Go Connecticut Whale! Got my tickets for December 1st game. Can't wait.

Season's over, bro. I've accepted this fact last week and to tell you the truth, I barely miss the NHL. I have my Gators and the NFL to keep me warm and comfy.

I know this maybe too late or possibly just a stupid idea, but I think a petition from the fans is something that we should do to make our vioces heard.  With people connected so easily through the internet, even across rival blogs, we should write something up that fans could sign that states that we will not buy tickets to any games or purchase any merchandise unless "the full season is restored".  Granted at this point maybe we could say "70 games", but we need to make our voices heard and show that there will be consequences for all this greddy SOBs.  Any thoughts?

Outside of Fehr telling Bettmen he missed his musk and they should be roomates when this is all over, I'm not sure what exactly the NHLPA would want to meet about. They told the league up front they didn't want to negotiate on the leagues proposal and didn't want to make a new proposal.

I think Kev is right here. They did us a favor.
