82 Game Schedule Not Happening
From yesterday's Islanders moving to Brooklyn press conference (ESPN)...
"Unfortunately, it looks like an 82-game season is not going to be a reality" - Bettman
Training camp canceled - check
Preseason games canceled - check
Regular season games through November 1st canceled - check
Possibility of an 82 game schedule canceled - check
...and I think we all know what huge event is the NHL's firewall between having an abbreviated season and me adding a final check mark to the 2012-13 NHL season. Let me give you a hint, it starts with Winter and ends in Classic.

You could also have 6x the 4 division teams and 4x the 10 other teams in the East and completely do away with the interconference games this season. I'm sure that would bother no one because I could care less about playingc Columbus, St. Louis or any West Coast team. 64 should be the goal. Don't try and pack 70+ games in a season that has already lost almost a full month. Don't be stupid because no one wants to see the Cup awarded in mid-June.
I agree the NHL season should be shorter and 64 sounds good, but there should be more games for division rivals. But i agree 64 should be the goal... understand though I am all for more international club and national tournaments though. I would love to see NHL best vs Europes best and stuff like that
Idk if your all familiar with this guy, but he has been very reliable in the past where others have not.
I heard from a source that the the REAL final date for a full season is Nov 16. It was pushed to Nov 2nd for many reasons including to put pressure on the players. There was apparently a meeting last night between Fehr and Bettman. https://twitter.com/HockeyyInsiderr/status/261466454203973633
82 games is too long of a season anyway. 64 would be perfect. 4x vs. the 14 teams in the conference, 4 away vs. Western Conference, 4 home vs. Western Conference. That's plenty.
