NHL and NHLPA have agreed to allow U.S. federal mediators to get involved in the labor dispute.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) November 26, 2012
...great, because what this situation needs is the federal government. Lots of compromise going on in Washington these days.
...having said that, I'm for anything that puts this situation to bed and gets a season started.
At the end of the day, this means very little other than a 3rd party making sure meetings happen and sitting in the room. This isn't an arbitrator; no one is agreeing to what the mediator says. They'll try to find middle ground to the arguing points, but at the end of the day the League can just continue to be narrow minded and short sighted.
@TheNYRBlog - lets say the majority of people did want Bettman out... how would that come to play? Who has that power.. the board?
