Dubinsky Would Play for Suspended Prust
Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that if Brandon Dubinsky (ankle) is ready, he would replace the suspended Brandon Prust in the line-up for tonight's Game 4 in Newark.
However, Brooks adds that he hasn't talked to Rangers trainer Jim Ramsey, so he's not sure if Dubinsky is healthy enough to play.
...great, thanks Larry. If Michael Sauer is ready (which he's not, relax), he would replace Steve Eminger in the line-up also.
...with Dubinsky only practicing twice since Game 7 against Ottawa, I'd be shocked if he plays.
...more likely scenario is Bickel at forward and Eminger stays at defense. Or maybe John Scott makes his Rangers playoff debut. You remember John Scott don't you?
Speaking of Prust's suspension, here's Brendan Shanahan's explanation...
...i don't think there's too many Rangers fans who would disagree that the Prust elbow was a suspendable offense. The issue, as it's been all postseason, is the consistency. We've seen all playoffs long that if an injury doesn't occur and there is no history of suspensions the player hasn't been suspended (see Weber), so I'm not sure what's changed here. Although, the one thing that has remained consistent is if a star player throws an illegal hit (see Ovechkin) they won't be suspended or if they are injured on a hit (see Alfredsson) the player hitting them will be suspended.
Here was John Tortorella's comments before the suspension was announced (via Bergen Record)...
“Pruster’s played probably 300-plus games without any hearing, anything going on with him. He’s probably one of the most honest players. I look at (Dainius) Zubrus elbow to (Anton) Stralman, I look at (Zach) Parise launching himself at (Michael) Del Zotto. Maybe if our players stay down on the ice, we’ll get something. We tell our players don’t stay down on the ice, get up."
Devils coach Pete DeBoer said Torts' comment was "comical."
...while Torts is 100% correct, I'm not so sure I like him calling out a frustrated Devils team. Could see DeBoer using Torts' words as bulletin board material to motivate his team.
Here's video of Parise launching himself at Del Zotto & Zubrus elbow on Stralman...

...amazing how the media just picks and chooses hits to crucify and the NHL just follows along. How did neither of these hits as least have a hearing?
