Looks like the Rangers are listening (via New York Times)...
"Look, don't get me wrong. I'm happy for him that he's healthy. But our mentality cannot change and it will not change. When we play against Crosby, we have to play him hard."
“It’s always fun to go up against the best player. We just have to make sure all our emotion is in the right place and it doesn’t lead to us taking penalties. We have to treat every guy like we treat everyone else — get in their face, block shots, hit them hard and clean.”
“It doesn’t matter if he hasn’t played in a while, or even if he’s not 100 percent, he’s Sidney Crosby. Any time he steps on the ice, we have to be ready for him. It’s a very important game for us.”
...while the above pic is obviously a joke, it's great to hear the Rangers aren't going to letup on Crosby, because he will make them pay time and time again. He's too good to be worrying about possibly injuring him. Got to play him straight up and hope he doesn't have a setback.
...yes, I said I hope he doesn't have a setback. While I despise Crosby and his cry baby ways, he is an amazing talent and the game of hockey is better off with him participating.
...h/t to reader @rebelprincessny.
And I think if they spend too much time worrying about Crosby, Malkin is going to make them pay harder than Crosby would.
I'm sorry but I just don't understand why Crosby being on the ice makes NHL or "the game of hockey" better off. There are plenty of amazing players in the game who deserve attention and praise as much as he does, why is he always the freaking hero? I don't mean to belittle his talent, because he's a hugely talented player, but I just cannot understand why he's always billed as the freaking savior of the league. I think that belittles everyone else. Christ, he's not even that good looking (I don't care what anyone says, he looks like a goof to me).
As far as I'm concerned he's nothing but a distraction at this point. Ignore Sid the Kid and just play your game, boys.
@TheNYRBlog I hope that the officials don't take control of this game by sending us to the box each time Cindy Cosby gets touched, farted on
Agreed 100%. I cannot stand the kid's whining. But to see him out of action is just detrimental to the game as a whole in terms of talent and marketability.
@erichan you obviouly havent watched Cosby play. Nobody can skate like Crosby or do anythng like him and that is the truth. When he is healthy he blows everyone away IMO nobody comes close to his skill and the way he plays. When Crosby is on the ice he brings attention to the game, when you are that good every non Pens fan is going to hate him and portray him in every negative way ie cry baby. The truth is we would all love for him to be on our team.
@traderserge I wish. Going to a buddy's house to watch the game.
