Lightning 4, Rangers 3, OT

The New York Rangers (41-15-7) lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning (30-28-6) by the score of 4-3 in overtime, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...no one likes to lose, but when you're badly out played the way the Rangers were tonight they should be more than happy to salvage a point.

...i know the Rangers were missing two key offensive contributors, but they have more than enough firepower to compensate, so just 19 shots on goal against a mediocre goalie at best is inexcusable.

...safe to say Dubinsky received Tortorella's message.

...what, no rifle celebration from Anisimov? Disappointing.

...combined -9 for the Feds-Boyle-Prust line.

...not exactly the birthday gift Lundqvist was hoping for today.

...man in front? Shot from the point? Movement? Almost looked like a real power play from the Rangers tonight.

...even with Gaborik healthy this season, I'm still a nervous wreck when I see him go down. Damn Micheletti freaking me out by saying Gabby smacked his head on the ice.

...five hits in just seven minutes of ice time for Scott. I like that ratio.

...that Stamkos guy looks like he's going to be a good player in this league.

...while I'd like to see more goals, Mitchell has impressed the hell out of me this season.

...quietly Richards starting to struggle again.

...off tomorrow then Bruins in town Sunday afternoon.

Thanks for heads-up Janene. Guess I'm just so used to the Rangers winning lately I automatically had them victorious in the headline.

The thing that really gets me is the fact that Richards has so many open looks every night yet he chooses to pass rather than shoot.... He has a nasty shot he just has to use it more

Am I the only one who thinks Fedotenko is totally useless as a player?  He does nothing well...at all.

 @MikeL1981 No. lol

@KevinDeLury Ugh, he just annoys me because he's just...there.  He doesnt do anything.  If BC loses in the regionals, and we can get Krieder signed and into a few games?  I'll take him over Fedotenko.  Krieder using his speed to cause havoc alone makes him more useful to the team.

@MikeL1981  @KevinDeLury I don't think they are just going to throw Krieder into NHL playoff games without any real pro experience.

Nice rebound game from Dubi. Agree, Prust-Boyle-Feds line looked slow all night. Hanks was awesome as usual. Richards needs to friggin shoot instead of looking for the perfect pass all the time.

Was out this evening and just scanned through all of the goals. Looked like an ugly game and that the Rangers were fortunate to salvage a point.

Wow, so used to Rangers winning I had headline of this post "Rangers 4, Lightning 3, OT." Guess that's a good thing.

At about the 10:00 mark of the 3rd, MSG showed a little 3 piece highlight of some of the plays Dubinsky had made up until that point of the game.

One was of him falling down in front of the TB goal while losing a backhanded attempt, another was of him randomly giving up the puck and the last one was of him getting stuffed on a golden opportunity with a wide open net.

Micheletti goes on to say that Dubinsky "really has rebounded this game after last nights game. John Tortorella doesn't hold grudges with his players."

Really Joe? Does Sean Avery ring a bell? Andre Deveaux? Steve Eminger? Jeff Woywitka? Wojtek Wolski?

BTW, I know I'm going to get ripped for this post because Mr. 1 goal in his last 13 games tied up the contest right after this mini highlight reel of Bambi on ice but keep in mind, where was he when Tampa won it in OT?

Right in the middle of the 2 players that created that game winner swinging his stick while standing flat footed on the ice.

But hey, he's awesome at puck control and play along the boards!!

@TheNYRBlog crappy loss but can't complain about 3 of 4 on back to back roadies against desperate teams

Mitchell could play with Gaborik if he skated better.

@DanW Don't want to mess with the GAS line right now.
