Rangers' 7-game homestand, starting Sunday, ties longest in team history (most recently 01-02) as per #NYR PR Dino Ticinelli.— Chris Botta (@ChrisBottaNHL) March 9, 2012
The Rangers are 22-7-2 at home this season.
Those seven games are against the Islanders, Hurricanes, Penguins, Avalanche, Devils, Red Wings and Sabres.
...to me this is exactly what this team needs right now. A little home cooking. Nothing can get a player more energized than a frenzied MSG crowd.
...although it could work in reverse God forbid they struggle as the boos are sure to rain down from the MGS Faithful.
...i'd love to see a 4-2-1 record in those seven games.
Exactly how are Ranger fans spoiled? With all the cups we've won since '94. Or maybe it's all the great playoff runs since Sather took over? No wait... it must be the low low prices at MSG. Right. The Rangers have had a great season, but anyone who isn't nervous about this team isn't watching the games. There are fundamental problems that have NEVER been addressed - goal scoring in general and especially the Power Play. Being a true fan doesn't mean you never take an honest look at your team or criticize them for poor play. It does us no good to finish in 1st if we can't succeed in the playoffs and lately it looks like we won't go far. The games are more intense now - the way they will be in the playoffs - and we haven't responded very well. Even the defense which has been miraculous this season considering who is on our roster, is giving us pause for concern. Hopefully it's just a funk, but we've had all season to figure out how to score more goals and it just ain't happening. Scary. (like Brad Richards contract) Lundquist can only take us so far. If we don't figure out how to score more consistently - let alone improve the power play - we are done. We'll limp into the playoffs and have to play every game on the edge hoping that the King can stand on his head every night. Not fun.
Honestly, the wins on this homestand are secondary to me. 3-2-2 is fine with me, as long as we see some good hockey from this team. This team has really faltered recently even while still getting wins, and they need to get back on the tracks for the endgame. If that means giving up a few points in the standings to get our mojo back so I can be watching this team through May, that's ok by me.
ugh. if people boo them at these next home games then these fans are spoiled little brats this season.
@TheNYRBlog They need to beat the Isles, Canes, 'Lanche & Sabres for sure, as well as one between Evil, Wings & Pens. 5-1-1 is what I want.
@TheNYRBlog I hope they don't gag on it. Can't give up #1 in conference after being up there for so long.
@nikkifriction Agreed. But this is New York. And considering how bad the Rangers have been over the years and how much the fans have been let down any time there has been a glimmer of hope, I can understand the reaction. I don't agree with it, but I understand it.
@nikkifriction If they struggle, be assured the boos will come.
@jeffweber77 i mean yeah but come on, theyre still at the top of the east. every team is going to struggle. you cant expect them to win and play amazingly every single game. yes its what wed all lov eto see happen, but its not going to.
@KevinDeLury im sure they will. but that is one reason why i hate ranger fans. they have had an amazing season and a couple of struggles and regulation losses and they suck and are the worst.
@TheNYRBlog Anything less than 4-2-1 would be MAJOR cause for concern, & if 1 of those losses is to the Pens, might mean being in 2nd place.
@nikkifriction True. And no more Biron. Ever. Start Hank every game. LOL
@jeffweber77 who knows, im sure they want revenge against the hawks. have faith!! :)
@nikkifriction They're gonna lost tonight, maybe even badly again, and then come home and spank the Isles on Sunday. If they win tonight, then the last few games definitely were just a slump and nothing more. LET'S GO RANGERS!
@jeffweber77 i definitely agree. i think they will come around and pick up their game. maybe tonight. maybe sunday. but it will happen soon. they wont let this go on for too long. im definitely pumped for whats coming. im always proud to be a ranger fan, heck i got a tattoo. but right now im extra proud and cant wait to see what they can do in the post season.
@nikkifriction You're absolutely right. But if they continue to struggle on this massive homestand, something is not right. We're going to find out. A lot of people have thought the Rangers have overachieved a bit this year, including many Ranger fans. I know I think they have, but I'm still excited for what's to come!
