Zuccarello, JAM Light Up AHL All Star Game

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

zuccwhale2Mats Zuccarello and Jonathan Audy-Marchessault both had a goal and two assists in the first period of last night's AHL All Star Game in Atlantic City, but it wasn't enough as their Eastern Conference squad lost to the Western Conference 8-7 in a shootout.

...while the lack of defense and physicality I'm sure led to this offensive outburst by Zuccarello, I'm hoping it can give him some confidence going forward and maybe springboard him to a return to the Rangers roster. It's hard to ask for a line-up change to the first place team in the Eastern Conference, but if they don't get this power play fixed soon it will start to burn them when games get tighter during the stretch run in March and in the playoffs.

Wait, what? Kevin? Are you feeling ill?

Still hoping he'll get a chance with the Rangers some time this year, but I can't see that anyone else on the roster deserves to go down.

" I'm sure led to this offensive outburst by Zuccarello" Pretty sure he's been scoring regularly in Hartford. That said, if they do bring him up it'd be to showcase him as trade bait...probably.

@thenyrblog Lights up? More like cruised around dispassionately, grabbing easy pts early before disappearing when the West started playing.
