Avery Takes Blame for Struggles in Dallas

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

averyLarry Brooks at the New York Post was able to talk with Sean Avery about what went wrong during his short tenure with the Dallas Stars a day before the Rangers visit Dallas...

"I have to take the major portion of the responsibility for what happened in Dallas," Avery told The Post on Wednesday. "They gave me a contract to come there and help the team win and when I got there, I didn't adjust.

"I didn't adjust to the conditions. I didn't adjust to Texas as a whole, I didn't adjust to the team, and when I say the team, I don't mean the organization, I mean some of the guys in the room.

"I'm responsible 100 percent for that; 100 percent."

...plenty of blame to go around with the Avery/Stars fiasco. I lost a lot of respect for Madono and Turco who both never gave Avery a chance and left him out to dry.

...although without Avery's tenure in Dallas we would never have had 'sloppy seconds.'

...this is a very mature interview from Avery. Good for him being the bigger man.
