Yesterday, the Lightning asked Kubina to waive his no-trade clause and submit a list of teams to which he would accept a trade.
To protect their own interests, Tampa has decied to shut down Kubina until the situation is resolved.
Pat Leonard at the Daily News says there is nothing imminent with the Rangers and Kubina.
Kubina, who is in the final year of his contract, is making $3.5 million this season and has 3g, 8a this year.
...could the Rangers use some size on the blueline? Sure. But why would they need to upgrade one of the better defenses in the league?
Honestly, guys like Bickel, Stralman and Woywitka helped get this team to where they are today. Staal is coming around, but still needs some more time. I just see no reason to go in this direction. Stay with the youth. Let them gain valuable experience. I'm tired of aging players from other teams that contribute little or nothing.
Uhm common sense? Injuries, staal not being who he was pre concussion and its an upgrade over bickell stralman woywitka. And hes one of torts boys like feds and richie.
@thenyrblog some people think its not big enough for a series against someone like lucic
@thenyrblog hopefully its so they can move del zotto in the Rick Nash trade
wouldnt you have to do this? i mean he is cheap has the size might only cost a pick or mid level prospect and with sauer not progressing this is the kind of move that is a playoff move...if the price is right you always upgrade regardless of how good you are
If they wanted size, they could have gotten the guy Philly traded for. Their D is solid. The only guy I want back there -- one more time -- is Shea Weber or a Shea Weber clone.
@thenyrblog Maybe Columbus wants DZ in the trade?
@thenyrblog NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! won't help #bringbackavesinstead
@thenyrblog because if you can add a defenseman without having to lose anybody plus help with pp and physicality, you almost 100% do it
