Corey Masisak at NHL.com says the Rangers stockpile of talented prospects has been very beneficial during the trade deadline..."Why have the Rangers been at the forefront of the discussions about a potential Rick Nash trade? Because the Rangers have built up a nice cache of young, impact talent to the point where dealing a couple or few quality young players and prospects won't 'mortgage the future,' as the saying goes."
Masisak adds that if Glen Sather decides to do a smaller deal he has the resources to make it happen while still keeping an eye on the team's long-term future.
...as most of you know, I'm a big advocate of the Rangers developing their prospects to help the NHL club, but there also comes a time when they'll need to trade some of that talent to bring in the possible missing piece for a Stanley Cup run. Sather has the assets, let's hope he can put them to good use and find that missing piece.
