Rangers 3, Capitals 2

The New York Rangers (36-13-5) defeated the Washington Capitals (28-22-5) by the score of 3-2, today. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...no matter what the test, this Rangers team steps up to the plate with no excuses. Two games in less than 24 hours no problem. The Rangers still outworked a Capitals team that hadn't played since Thursday. 14-1-3 in back-to-backs this season. Unreal.

...had no idea Prust hadn't scored since October, man that must have been a relief.

...running out of adjectives to describe Callahan.

...didn't realize McD had those kind of offensive moves in him. Needs to work on the landing though. I thought for sure he blew out his hamstring. Five blocked shots to go along with that goal.

...another tough night at the office for Ovechkin matched up against Girardi.

...Lundqvist doesn't need help too often back there, but the today the goal post was his best friend.

...i've given Boyle a tough time this season, but he's been one of the Rangers best players since the All Star break. 2g, 2a and doing all the small things that help a team be successful including winning 13 of 20 faceoffs today.

...this will be my only compliment of an opponent in my post game thoughts all year, I absolutely love the old school Capital jerseys. They need to bring those back permanently.

...guess it was too much to ask for the Rangers to score power play goals in consecutive games.

...great to see Staal get his first point of the season. Hopefully it'll be something for him to build on.

...hasn't been the best year for Dubinsky offensively, but that was a sweet pass on the Prust goal.

...if you blinked during the game you would have thought Bickel and Rupp didn't play.

...off tomorrow then in Boston on Tuesday.

Would not change a single damn thing about this team. No way I want Rick Nash, I guy who took more money to play in COLUMBUS, ohio, for a franchise that he hasn't lead anywhere except the bottom of the western conference. No thanks I will stick with my boys and my future. And by the way, there is no way Nash is worth more than Gabby.

You forgot to mention that on the McDonagh goal, just before he scored, Dubinsky had the puck and skated behind the net.........AND TRIPPED OVER THE BACK OF THE NET!!!

Terrible...

@Beckfan5 All right, we get it.
You don't like Dubinsky. Talk about beating a dead horse. Sheesh.

@AnnoyingJoe@Beckfan5 I feel like hating on Dubi is such a trendy thing to do. Dubi has been a franchise favorite for his entire career here. He won the Steven McDonald his rookie year, and last year he was a fucking super hero. At this point, I feel like pretty much anyone talking shit about Dubi in a broad sense (rather than just within the confines of a single game) is either a totally new Rangers fan or a completely shortsighted asshole.

@AnnoyingJoe I do it because fans overrate the guy. He lacks in hockey talent but want to revert to last season when he lead the team in scoring.

Well, duh. Of course he did. Gaborik and Callahan missed a significant amount of time. Finishing 77th in the league in scoring is noting to toot a horn at.

@Beckfan5@AnnoyingJoe Nah I am not saying that at all. I am just saying that doing so makes you sound like either a moron or a fair-weather-fan. Especially (as Joe points out) when you do it as often as you do. But by all means, go ahead.

I think its fair for any Ranger fan to be dissappointed with Dubinsky's production this year. But that's not the point. The point is the wierd, obsessive and boorish way in which you constantly bitch about him.

@CJ@AnnoyingJoe So what you are saying is that I don't have the right to dislike a player because the majority loves him?

Talk about trendy....

And good job with the name calling.

@Beckfan5@CinciMike@AnnoyingJoe We are number one in the east. Unless you are a moron and have not seen him play in past years you know he is a really solid player, and he is still playing well, just not scoring that much. Did I mention we are number one in the east so quit whining baby beck.

I was at the game to say and i have to say, this team's chemistry is awesome. watching prust get the goal from dubi and staal was great. staal was coming to the bench for fist bumps was getting razzed from the bench for finally getting his first point of the season and he made a sarcastic "hat tip" motion with a smile. something tv didnt show. You can see that this team loves each other and i would honestly hate to see them do anything drastic at the deadline. STAY THE COURSE GLEN!! STAY THE COURSE!!

I dont change a damn thing at the trade deadline if I'm Sather. This team can play with anybody and I wouldn't want to mess with the team chemistry. And I definitely wouldn't trade Kreider either, add him and maybe a UFA (Parise) over the summer and this team is even better next year. All the guys that some have mentioned to be moved (Boyle, Arty, Dubi) are the ones that have started to pick it up in the last week and Boyle and Dubi definitely add to the leadership and do the intangibles when they are not scoring. Love this team. Great weekend for them.
