Practice Notes: No Feds; Wolski on 4th Line; Dubi on Trade Talk (Updated)

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Update, 6:05 p.m.:
Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Tortorella says the Rangers will go with the same line-up against Columbus tomorrow, meaning Bickel will be back at right wing and Wolski will be in the press box.

Assuming Henrik Lundqvist gets the start.

...i'm fine with this. As I said below, Bickel makes more sense on the fourth line than Wolski.

Original Post:
Katie Strang at ESPN NY reports that Ruslan Fedotenko was not on the ice for this morning's practice.

John Tortorella says there is no update on Fedotenko or Michael Sauer.

...got to be worried about both of them at this point if they're not even practicing. Might not see them till the end of March at this point.

According to the Rangers, Wojtek Wolski was practicing on the fourth line with Mike Rupp and John Mitchel, while Stu Bickel was back on defense.

...if Torts is going to re-insert Wolski into the line-up, he can't be on the fourth line. Absolute waste. Would rather the hard nosed Bickel stay there than Wolski who's not a grinding player. Maybe Wolski with Dubinsky and Mitchel?

Finally, in response to his name being mentioned in the Rich Nash trade talks, Brandon Dubinsky says...

"It's part of the game. It's not like I feel unwanted here. I just need to get my game in order."

I was watching hockey night in Canada last night and heard it someone saying on the hotstove report that Columbus is asking Mcdana and Delzado among prospects and draft picks for Rick Nash. IMO. this is the most absuerd request I've ever heard. That tells me that they're not really serious about tradng him and if they do, I hope it's not to the Rangers.

No way that dubi is going to get traded. 0% chance. They are mentioning hiim to light a fire under his ass. These days most the athletes follow the media and trade rumors, it's impossible not to. The fact he acknowledged it to the press means he knows its out there and knows hes slumping. When games get tighter in the playoffs, you will see Dubi's worth. He's staying.

@brian2686 I agree to a certain extent but I really think that Dubi is giving all he have. He is just snake bit. I know he wiil get out of his slump and will start paying dividants soon. Maybe he'll start in he playoffs. It's a new season.

@brian2686 Also, Nash isn't asking to be traded — every year before the trade deadline and before the UFAs are unleashed the media focuses on a player and situation, this year Nash is it. From what I've read he only said he'd leave if it benefited the team.

flyers talking nash deal with columbus. thats good and bad. good if it goes down because we wont get him. also good because it will hurt the crap out of their cap situation. good also because they will have to trade away the farm. bad because we will face him so often.

if it goes down.

@IcyCup It will not happen with the flyers. They would need to gut the entire team to make room in the salary cap. I would be shocked if that trade goes down.

@IcyCup Flyers let the animals off their farm over the summer by sending their captain & co. elsewhere — Nash f-ing up their cap situation would be soo bad for them. Who cares, that team is a mess and they suck.

@_Jack carter and richards were not their farm team. im talking about a nash trade that could take their prospects.

"if Torts is going to re-insert Wolski into the line-up, he can't be on the fourth line. Absolute waste. "

DUDE. wolski is an absolute waste, PERIOD.

i just cant for the life of me understand your (for the lack of a better word) fascination with this guy. and what makes him worse is his cap hit. he's a worse case scenario. no consistency, no passion and a prohibitive cap hit.

@IcyCup Wolsky deserves one more chance either on the second or third line and if he fails this time, we need to close this chapter and get rid of the bum during the trade deadline, or do not re-sign him for next season.,

@IcyCup He's been a waste b/c he's been hurt and not given a real chance (not sure he deserves one) this season.

@KevinDeLury he has shown that he has nothing to offer on a consistent basis.

Totally agree. Also, I'm watching the CBJs getting smacked by Chicago. By the time this game is done, they'll be happy to trade Nash for some of our lower-end D-men. (I wish). LOL.
