Lundqvist Hart Trophy Front Runner?
Sean Leahy at Puck Daddy feels that as the NHL enters the final month and a half of the regular season, the Hart Trophy race is down to Henrik Lundqvist and Evgeni Malkin with Lundqvist as the front runner..."The last two modern goaltenders to win the MVP — Hasek and Jose Theodore — posted numbers that were tremendous for backstops, but should Lundqvist keep up his pace over the Rangers' final 26 games, he'll blow their stats out of the water.
Here are the Hart Trophy-winning stats of Hasek and Theodore:
Hasek
1996-97 37 wins, 2.27 GAA, .930 SV%, 5 SO
1997-98 33 wins, 2.09 GAA, .932 SV%, 13 SO
Theodore
2001-02 30 wins, 2.11 GAA, .931 SV%, 7 SO"
Lundqvist has 28 wins, a 1.77 goals-against average, .941 save-percentage, and seven shutouts this season.
...to me the most amazing thing about this Hart Trophy talk is that Jose Theodore actually won it.
...in all seriousness, if Hank can keep this up I don't care how many points Malkin puts up the Rangers netminder should be the runaway winner.

Numbers aside, is there any other player in the league that is more valuable to his team?
It won't surprise me if he gets neither... such a bullshit voting system, he should have won a Vezina already, but he gets screwed every time. Just win us a Cup, baby!!
@thenyrblog I'm a believer in the theory goalies all ready have an award and therefore should only win MVP if no other good candidates.
There is only one trophy that matters... and we all know which one it is. The rest of it is just icing on the cake.
You'd have to believe all this talk makes Lundqvist focus even more. He's always wanted a vezina, and as of right now he knows it is his. And to add an Hart to that ...
