Power Outage in Connecticut

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Over at Blueshirts United, Jim Cerny takes a look at the CT Whale at the quarter pole. Unfortunately, it has been filled with inconsistancies, especially on the offensive end...

"Christian Thomas has had some splendid offensive moments---like his gorgeous goal Saturday night---but he has only two points (1-1-2) in his last nine games. Kyle Jean (5-8-13 in 20 games) started out very strong, but with no points in his last five games and no goals in eight, it's clear he is still adapting as a first-year pro. JT Miller has been consistent with his effort, board work, and defensive responsibilities, but has zero points in his last five games and no goals in nine. And Chris Kreider (4-6-10 in 19 games) has seemed out of sync all season, with three of his four goals coming in back-to-back games in November."

...never good when every one of your top offensive prospects are having trouble putting the puck in the net.

...obviously the most disturbing out of this group is Kreider. Guys go through scoring slumps, but it's discouraging to hear he's looked out of sync. Maybe the big hit he took last game will knock him back on track.

Is there any reason why the Rangers coaching staff can''t help out in the AHL during the lock-out?

Not surprised on Kreider, nor am I concerned. I said all summer that if there were a lockout and he was forced to go to the AHL, it would be the best thing for him. (Felt he needed the time down there and there was no way the Rangers would've sent him if season started on time.) Let him get the kinks out now so he's ready when the Rangers need him.

these guys are all first year pros, and the AHL is a better league this year than ever with the lockout on.  too soon to worry about them.
