Potvin Almost Became a Ranger in 1994?!?!?!?!
Jeff Klein at the New York Times reports that back in 1994, Mike Keenan reached out to the six-year retired ex-Islander Denis Potvin to ask if he'd be interested in playing again...for the Rangers...
“In ’94 he figured he had a championship team he was putting together, and he needed a real quarterback for the power play,” Dennis Potvin said. “Brian Leetch was there, but he asked if I would be interested in coming back.
“At first I thought he was joking. And then all of a sudden when I realized he was serious, I thought, ‘Oh my god, can I do this?’ So I went out skating, and I thought, ‘Nope, I can’t do this.’”
...i don't care if Mike Keenan told this story to my face, I don't believe it. Especially after Potvin takes a shot at Leetch saying the Rangers needed a real pp quarterback. Hey dickface, Leetch won the Conn Smyth Trophy that year. Don't think they needed you.
...and if in some bizzarro universe this was true and Potvin did sign with the Rangers, I kid you not, I would have not been able to support the Rangers that season. You might as well have put an asterisk next to that Stanley Cup as far as I'm concerned. I mean Denis Potvin. That's almost as nauseating as the thought of Bryan Trottier coaching the Rang...oh, wait.

He is delusional...he was out of hockey for 6 yrs at the time and probably was just as fat as he was in the Garden transformation show...I'm pissed they even showed him in Our House....He shouldn't be proud of the chant because he cost a guy his career...
