Hrivik Heating Up as Temps Dropping

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

It was a tough start to the CT Whale season for Marek Hrivik, who missed the entire preseason and first two games of the year due to an undisclosed injury.

And that setback really seemed to affect him on the ice as he went scoreless in his first 14 games. Hrivik had 5g, 4a in nine playoff games with Whale last year after signing as a free agent at the end of the season.

But that's all changed for the big, physical forward as after last night's power play goal he now has 3g, 5a in the last six games.

...i was a big advocate for Hrivik this offseason, so I was beyond disappointed after his slow start. I should have figured he'd be in for a bit of a let down after taking the AHL by storm in the playoffs last year. But his physical game and soft hands are too good to keep him down for long. Really excited to see what Hrivik can do for the rest of the season.

Here's video of Hrivik's power play goal during the Whale's 4-3 loss to the Syracuse Crunch last night (1:20 mark)...

Chris Kreider was held scoreless last night  and is in the middle of a five game goal drought.
