Upcoming Year Huge For Michael St. Croix

Written by James Wrabel on .

Over at The Pipeline Show, Guy Flaming has a piece on New York Rangers prospect Michael St. Croix and how 2012-13 will be a huge year for his development. Flaming offers some advice he's received from several NHL scouts.

I've spoken with numerous scouts who aren't sold he can play in the top 6 for a NHL club and because he's not considered a checker, he won't fit in on the bottom 6 either.

He didn't get a sniff from Hockey Canada for the summer U20 series against the Russians and although that doesn't preclude at 2013 WJC opportunity, it's not an endorsement either.
  • I'm very intrigued to see what St. Croix can do this year. He's got great offensive potential, but if he doesn't develop other parts of his game that are necessary in the NHL, he'll be a career minor leaguer. A lack of size can be made up for with a great work ethic and solid hockey smarts.
