Kolarik to Get Look During Camp

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

kolarikDuring yesterday's Blueshirts United Live Chat, Jim Cerny discussed those rookies with a legit chance of making the Rangers roster out of camp and mentioned a darkhorse...

"...an under the radar player to watch is Chad Kolarik---out all last year following knee surgery, has been healthy all summer, and Torts really liked him when he briefly played with NYR two years ago...look out for him."

Kolarik tore his ACL in Rangers training camp last season.

...i was very impressed with Kolarik during his short four game stint with the Rangers during the 2010-11 season. While he only registered an assist, he was noticable every time he was on the ice and I can see how Torts took a liking to him.

...having said that, never easy to comeback after major knee surgery, so I'm a little hesitant to get overly excited about his chances in training camp.

Kolarik had 17g, 14a in 36 games with CT Whale in 2010-11 after being traded to the Rangers from the Columbus Blue Jackets for Dane Byers.

Unless Thomas or Miller really kill it during camp, i'd rather see Kolarik get 6-7 min a night with the Rangers and Miller and/or Thomas get 20+ a night with the Whale.  Even with Gabby out, I don't see a top 6 spot going to a rookie who's name isn't Kreider.
