Full Season Lockout Would Burn a Year Off Player Contracts

Written by James Wrabel on .

Michael Grange of Sportsnet informs us of an interesting stipulation for the NHLPA to consider if a work stoppage lasts an entire season.

  • A couple readers did ask about this very scenario. I'm sure NHL owners are completely aware of this cause. The eternal hockey optimist in me isn't even acknowledging this information.

This is such bull. Lockouts are about the dumbest thing possible. Everyone suffers and the owners act like they're doing the righteous thing. Just everybody put aside your egos, get in a room and hammer out each point until it's done!!! Why do we need weeks of posturing between countering? It's a joke.

So kreider would then be a UFA after only 1 season with NYR because Sather used the first year during his playoff debut last year. This could be another consideration for not chasing Doan ans his big cap hit.

@chrisD kreider would be a RFA not a UFA in the instance you brought up.

@chrisD Not a single regular season game played and only a year left on entry level deal? Not to shabby.

@KevinDeLury good for him... not so much for for us!
