What's Made Boyle So Effective?

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

boylereliefStu Hackel at SI.com takles a look at what's made Brian Boyle so effective in the playoffs...

"What Boyle does very well is get the puck deep in the offensive zone and keep the cycle going, letting his frame be an asset along the boards, in front of the net and in traffic anywhere on the ice. And in the playoffs, when the checking gets close, that's as important a quality as you can have."

...the knock on Boyle has always been his refusal to use that big body to his advantage. He seems to be much more confident driving to the net and getting in a good scoring position. In just 12 games he's somehow been able to turn himself into a legitimate power forward in the NHL.

...we also have to remember that at 27-years old, Boyle is just now entering his prime years, so if it's going to finally click for a player this is usually when it's going to happen. And if this is just the beginning of him figuring it out, I can't wait to see what else is in store.
