Boyle = Scotiabank Place's Public Enemy No. 1

During Game 3 last night in Ottawa, Brian Boyle was booed every time he touched the puck in response to his roughing up of All Star defenseman Erik Karlsson during Game 1.

Here's Boyle's reaction to the jeers (via ESPN NY)...

"Honestly, I was surprised. If I'm the villain to them, that's good."

...i'm just a surprised as Boyle. Carkner took care of it in Game 2 and figured it was a dead issue. Guess not.

...makes it that much sweeter Boyle scored the game winner.

John Tortorella said this about Boyle post game...

"He's playing the right way. I think a lot of us can -- and a lot of us are -- following his lead. That's what he's doing right now: He's leading."

Boyle, who has eight goals in his last 12 games, said this about his elevated play of late...

"Overall, just my confidence with the puck has been better lately. Holding onto it, trying to make plays. The game has slowed down [for me] a little bit."

...while Boyle had a solid year with intangibles such as faceoffs, blocked shots and pk work, this offense has literally come out of no where. It's like a switch popped on. Hopefully Ottawa doesn't figure out how to turn it off.

Here's video of Boyle's goal last night...
