"We should have higher expectations than last year," Lundqvist said. "I think we're a better team now than last year."
...as I've said, as soon as the Rangers signed Richards they went from a rebuilding mode to a win now mode. So get ready Blueshirts fans, if everything breaks right we could be in for a fun few years coming up.
I still don't think it's a "win now" mode in the negative sense of the word. This team is built to win both now AND in the future. It's all about sustained success.
Completely agree! The ability is there to "win now" but the future was not sacrificed to do so, as it was so many times in the past. In fact I'd say that the Richards signing give the youth even more of a shot because he basically fills 2 holes (C and PP point man) with 1 player, meaning a young guy now has that 1 additional spot to shoot for. If they traded for him and included yong players and prospects, yes, it would have been win now. This was just a smart move.
@gravey94 While my views on Richards are well known, I really can't complain about the Rangers wanting to win now. It'll make the blog more enjoyable for sure. If they are winning that is.
@KevinDeLury I was with you Kevin, I HATED the Richards signing, but it's grown on me through the summer, particularly since it did not affect signing the other core players. Of course as soon as he goes 2 games without a point I will be screaming bloody murder, but that's what make me a Rangers fan ;-)
