Newbury, Hagelin Star in Whale Shootout Loss
Leslie Treff at Hockey's Future NY Rangers Blog reports that Kris Newbury had two assists and Carl Hagelin chipped in his first goal of the season but it wasn't enough as the CT Whale were defeated by the Albany River Rats 3-2 in a shootout."Carl Hagelin played very well tonight, and he may be a good forward to try with Newbury on the PP. Not only did he score a goal, but he was all over the ice on the penalty kill, and he was very strong on the puck at even strength. He can use his speed to create plays and seemed to have some chemistry with Newbury on even strength. It would be a good idea to try him in all situations, as he is developing by the period."
...Newbury now has 3g, 2a in three games so far and it sounds like Hagelin is acclimating himself to the pro game quite well. Remind me again why Christensen made the Rangers roster over these two.

Speaking of prospects, Andrew Yogan (2010 - 3rd) was a healthy scratch last night for taking too many undisciplined penalties this early season. Yogan has 2g, 3a in seven games this year.
