Richards Mentoring Del Zotto

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

richards6A week after Brad Richards set straight a struggling Derek Stepan by advising him to not overthink and just play, Steve Zipay at Blue Notes reports that Richards has now begun mentoring Michael Del Zotto on and off the ice...

"I think it grew together before I approached both players," John Tortorella said. "I have so much respect for Brad Richards, knowing what it's like to be a pro, that's what he can bring. It doesn't even have to be about hockey."

...i've been very impressed with Richards on the ice, but his mentoring of the young guys off the ice may be what ultimately changes my tune about his signing.

@Brukie_ Listen, I'd love to see Avery get more playing time, but the team is going real good right now. Really hard to complain.

I would love to be a fly on the wall to here what BR is really telling the young kids. It has to be so much more than, "not to overthink and just play." Hell, anyone of us could give that advice. LOL. Glad the chemistry is coming together. Now, if they could figure out the PP.

@thenyrblog biggest story of the early year to me has to be either McDonagh's evolution or Garborik's return to form.
