Power Rankings (Week of 11/28/11)

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

ESPN.com drops the Rangers three sports to #5 in their most recent power rankings...

5. Rangers - The Rangers continue to impress with nine wins in their past 11 games. The Blueshirts also lead the league in goals allowed per game. So, just how good will they be when Marc Staal returns?

The Hockey News (7) and TSN (6) also released their power rankings.

What a weird way to put that... They LEAD the league in GAA lol.

They lead the league in FEWEST GAA is much better

Why do power rankings base so much of their opinion on what the team is missing from their roster. Oh man, Rangers are 5th now but if they had Staal they would be better? Lets just say they are a really good team right now no matter whose in their lineup.

When Marc Staal returns? Should say IF, he returns. Unfortunately, I still have my doubts that Staal will even come back at all this season.

@Newsted126

Sure he may be out all season, but the optimist in me says he will be back. I'm tired of being a down-trodden Rangers fan waiting for the hammer to fall. This team has something good brewing!

OK, so ESPN, The Hockey News, and TSN all have the Rangers no worse than 7th in the league and yet we still keep hearing that they need to prove themselves. The season is about 1/4 of the way through and the Rangers have done pretty good against the top teams (12 of 18 points). Let's face it, this is a good freakin' team If Dubinsky and Anisimov were lighting the lamp like they can (and I'm sure will) they would be borderline elite. Add Staal and Erixon rather than Woywitka and Eminger and they are an elite team with and elite goalie. Time to start believing that and not waiting for a collapse...are you listening Larry Brooks!!
