Rangers, Callahan Have Preliminary Discussions

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

callahan3The Fourth Period (TFP) reports that the Rangers have had preliminary discussions with Ryan Callahan's agent, Steve Bartlett, but a contract has not been formally proposed by either side.

TFP has learned that Bartlett and the Rangers are expected to resume talks in the near future and work towards getting a new contract ironed out.

Callahan earned $2.4 million this past season.

...i'm pretty confident in saying the Rangers are going to get this done before July 1st. I'd love to see four years at $3.5 million per.

...Dubi on the other hand not so sure how smooth negotiations will go.

I think Callahan will get it done before July 1st. I hope Dubinsky follows his lead. I think Dubi will break out next year, and score 30+ goals on the wing if get Richards. I have this picture in my head of first line Dubi-Richards-Gabby. Second line Anisimov-Stepan-Callahan. Gonna be fun.
