"I don't know where I'll be next September. I mean, I didn't know where I would be last September. That's the way it is. I'm not 26 any more. It goes from year to year. But this is a fun team to play on and I'd like to continue here, but we will see what happens. My focus now is to just keep strengthening my knee."
...nothing better than watching Prospal celebrate after a goal, having said that he is not needed on this team going forward. Plenty of veterans on the team and money saved by not bringing him back will help sweeten the pot for Richards.
...would much rather they bring back Fedotenko who is younger and healthier.
...thoughts on bringing Prospal back?
I would take Prospal over Feds any day of the week. You Kevin are insane (dont ban me lol). He can score goals, he plays with the burning passion of a million suns and has come through when we needed him, for the most part. EC? Feds? over Prospal? Hell no.
Look at tampa bay right now, guys like bergenheim and and thompson are playing big minutes and players hard and smart hockey. They know how to play the game and they aren't the expensive players. As much as people want to sign the big goal scorers and all that stuff, we need more players like callahan and dubinsky, guys that do all the little things
dude some of the things you say on this blog are insane, why wouldnt you want to bring prospal back? He has passion for the game, age doesnt matter in the league as much as you think. He plays hard every shift, and he hits, and can play on the power play. He can score and set up plays. Guys like Christensen who don't play hard dont even deserve to be in the league let alone on the rangers. We need more guys like prospal and not worry about big names like Richards. For the past 5 years every time the rangers sign a big name player, they never accomplish as much as they should.
I agree with Jason that this will probably play itself out in the summer depending on what happens with Brad Richards, Duby, and Cally, but I wouldn't use the young guys as an excuse not to sign him... Make them earn their spot on the roster and they'll be a lot better for it IMO.
How could you not love the guy right? He'll probably be decided upon once all the smoke from the early summer clears (all the RFA's and of course Richards). He won't be very expensive and he's still capable of being productive. I don't know that it's a slam dunk either way.
@seanholton all we have is players that do the little things. we need more players that do the big things. like score goals.
@seanholton Umm Tampa also has Stamkos, St. Louis and Lacavalier.
@seanholton Rangers aren't ready to win, so what does Prospal offer other than taking a young guy's spot. Plenty of other vets for kids to learn from.
Plus Prospal played a grand total of 29 games this year and is still trying to work to get his knee right.
Love Prospal just as much as the next guy but no thanks.
Hard working guys are nice, but you need some elite talent to get to that next level.
