"I didn't like the thought of playing there at first, but looking back it was invaluable for me to play there," said McDonagh. "I just don't want to go back!"
...that quote really shows me the maturity of McD. He could have gone down there and sulked, but instead he decided to work hard and is now a better player for it. Let's hope the same thing happens with Del Zotto this season.
It is comments and an attitude like this that are the reason why I do not think Del Zotto will ever succeed in the NHL. Sorry, I know I'm repeating myself, but here's a 21yo kid that knows that there is a certain level of ability AND maturity that is essential to a successful NHL career. Here's a kid that could give two shits about his social life. He's like, "screw the AHL." THAT"S what i want to see in a young D-man. Oh, and his play, strangely enough, backed up his words.
Not a chance Mcdonagh goes back. Way too mature to belong in Hartford. He's the smartest rookie i've ever seen on and off the ice. He's the most humble person on the team by far. If the Rangers would give out another assistant captain and have 3 as opposed to two, Mcdonagh definitely should get an A.
@KingBadaBing Anything can happen, but I agree with you that McD is mature beyond his years.
@skev303 Lets hope not. See Del Zotto.
