The New York Rangers (41-31-5) lost to the Buffalo Sabres (39-29-9) by the score of 1-0, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.
...these guys can't make it easy on us can they. Didn't look like they were ready to match the intensity of the moment until it was too late. Got to be ready from the drop of the puck. Not sure how you can come out so flat in a game so big.
...the Rangers have now scored one goal combined in the last two games against Tim Thomas and Ryan Miller's backups. If the Rangers would have sent bodies to the net the entire game the way they did in the third they would have won.
...forget Vezina, the way Lundqvist is playing he should be getting Hart considerations.
...while Gaborik had five shots didn't seem like he had any velocity on them.
...thought AA had a great start to the game but as was the case with most of the team he couldn't hit the net with his shot. Rangers need to watch the Sabres, just get the puck on net.
...thought Avery was one of the best players on the ice and was rewarded with a whopping 10 minutes of ice time. Would have liked Torts to play him some shifts with Gabby and Stepan.
...while the Rangers defense has been great all year, they need to start generating some more offense. Especially the offensive minded McCabe who had a grand total of zero shots on goal tonight.
...got to assume MZA is back in tomorrow with either EC or Wolski headed to the press box. Just three shots on goal in the last four games for EC who has one of the best wrist shots in the league. Maddening.
...this loss drops the Rangers to 8th place and with Carolina's win over Montreal the Blueshirts are now just three points ahead of 9th.
...right back at it tomorrow night on Long Island.
i dont understand how we can get points in...8? straight and loose one and are back in the same place we started. watching the game last night was horrifying to me. After the huge win over the bruins they have all these days off and play like that in the biggest game of the year? and 3 goals in 4 games? WOW we gotta whip the islanders tonight and get the confidence back. i dont wanna make the playoffs in the 8 seed either.
i flew up for the game last night, im obviously pretty frustrated with their performance but in my opinion the game should have atleast went to OT. Still not understanding how the Rangers goal was disallowed. You see players crashing the net every game and that call is not consistently made when the opposing player runs into or in this case is pushed into the goalie.
We could have put ourselves in a great spot last night but yet again we have to go into the last week of the season fighting for our lives. Never easy being a Rangers fan...
Last night was argueabely the most important game of the season. We did not show up. 3 of the next 5 games are against teams that cannot make the playoffs but can put us out. Both NYI and NJD are motivated to do just that. We need to show up!
I think MZA returns and EC sits tonight. Further down the line I think EC will not be with the rangers next season. The guy is hit or miss. The same thing happened last season with him. He was a ghost for most of the time we had him, then at the end of the season he showed us just enough skill where the coaching staff thought he could be effective, and hes basically doing the same thing this year. Not to mention, he is his own worst enemy. He's a head case and admits that he overthinks his game too much. Also, who smiles after losing in a post game?
Kevin, I thought the same thing about Gaborik's shooting tonight. His shots were very weak. I wonder if he is hurt. He needs that quick release to have more power behind the puck. I also thought Gaborik didnt have good speed tonight. If Cally didnt bump the goalie do you think AA still would have scored? I think so because even tho Cally made contact he was still out of position. I dont know why players get so close to goalies. The refs do not tolerate any contact while the goalie is trying to make a save.
was at the game tonight and considering the circumstances this was the worst game they played all year. they didn't show up until 3:30 left in the 3rd. ghost of the team we have watched this whole year. i know they can't win every game but we're by no means a lock for the playoffs, so you better go 120% every game. if they were at the garden tonight they wouldn't been booed onto the streets. canes only 3 points back now, better not let this spiral out of control.
Ingoalmag.com has an article about Hank for the Hart after the Boston game. That has quite the ring to it.
@ChrisP Unfortunately for Rangers the teams below them have been just as hot. Thankfully the Habs and Tampa have fallen off a bit so it's going to be a real dog fight to the end.
@ATCRyan Never easy. This may not be a popular opinion but I thought it was the right call on no goal. We'd be going crazy if that counted against Rangers.
@chrisD Does Torts get the blame for that?
@bauerout Great observation on EC post game interview. He was almost laughing. Should have been crying his performance was so bad.
@TheKing King, I was thinking injury as well, but didn't want to throw that out there.
@boogiepicker It is inexcusable the way they came out.
@KevinDeLury hard to say. he's managed the team well but even under Renny they failed to score in front of Hank on a consistent basis. We can't expect to go far if we can't score more than a goal or 2 a game. 3 or more and we've always got a chance of winning!
