The New York Rangers (38-30-4) defeated the Montreal Canadiens (39-26-7) by the score of 6-3, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.
...i had this whole awesome first thought about the Rangers surge, but with Hank's health in question it's kind of hard to get too excited right now. This may not be a popular stance, but I didn't think it was a dirty play by Pouliot more a result of the Eminger hit.
...having said that, Rangers are rolling at the right time and it's real fun to watch.
...a five goal first and to me the biggest play of the period was the Prust fight one second into the game. Really got the crowd and team into it. Also his pass to spring the 3-on-1 that led to the Boyle goal was a very under-rated play. BTW how awesome is the above pic of Prust?
...4g, 4a since trade deadline for AA, looks like Sather made the right move not trading him away for Richards, who has just one goal since the deadline.
...hope Avery was watching Subban tonight, because that's exactly how he needs to play.
...slowly but surely, Gaborik is finally starting to heat up.
...Dubinsky's numbers tonight, 1a, +2, 4 hits and 13-for-17 on faceoffs. Not too bad.
...another power play goal. Remember when we were calling for the Rangers to decline them?
...it really is so nice to finally see a guy step in there when Hank gets run over. Sauer continues to impress.
...Prospal with the quietest 8-game scoring streak (2g, 8a) I've ever seen. Missing more than half the season is really going to benefit the 36-year-old down the stretch and hopefully in the playoffs.
...nice to see the Rangers finally able to play physical with the speedy Canadiens and keep them from their run and gun style that always gives the Blueshirts problems.
...off tomorrow then on to Pittsburgh to take on the Crosby and Malkinless Pens.
Totally awesome picture of Prust. I set it as the wallpaper on my phone.
After this game I must say that i now hate Subban more than Crosby. The guy looks for the refs before he drops his gloves and then hides behind them right after he does. If you're going to be a pest you need to deal with the repercussions and fight. I think he would be better suited on the Penguins where he can properly learn how to cry from Lemieux.
You know what is sweet for a Ranger fan from Montreal Canadian and Toronto Maple Leaf mad Canada? Putting on your NYR jacket or hoodie the day after the win and heading out and seeing the Habs fans giving you that certain look. Freakin' sweet!
Couldn't watch the game since I have to go to work early. Really worried when I saw "a possible Hank injury" now when I woke up. Hopefully its nothing serious =/
I agree about the hit on Hank. There was nothing the guy could do to get out of the way. Tough break.
@bernardkost agree. and all Pouliot got was a facial from Boyle. gotta protect and stick up for the goalie with the NHL record of 6 seasons with 30+ wins to start his career!!!
@cb1 I have GameCenter and NHL Network. Hate it when games are on Versus. Sucks for the fans that we pay all that money for CI/GameCenter and still get blacked out of "nationally televised games" that aren't available to customers nationally.
@cb1 they moved it to nhlnetwork for whatever reason. The devils caps gem got switched from NHLN to center ice
@cb1 To be honest you really didn't miss anything after the first period. Except for Hank being steamrolled that is.
In total agreement with the TSN guy who said Rangers are done if Hank goes down. So how do you NOT stick up for the guy? Really stick up for him, not just attempt to do it.
I disagree with you guys. If Eminger didn't make contact, Pouliot woulda still rammed into Hank. There was no way he could've avoided Hank because he wasn't trying to. Eminger tried to shove him out of Hank's path and he fights to stay the course. Dirty and unnecessary.
Subban runs into Hank followed by Pouliot running Hank. Once again, Rangers continue to let opponents know they can run the Rangers' best player without retribution. I know, Sauer tried to get at Subban but the refs intervened. I didn't see the Rangers nasty-it-up in return, especially when the refs put their whistle away later in the 3rd. I woulda liked to see a few smurfs laid out.
@Otter87 Maybe he could have been in more control but didn't go out of his way to run Hank. Torts even admitted so.
@KCinMN98 I thought he was ready to make a move around Hank. But who knows. Torts didn't even think it was dirty.
