The New York Rangers (41-32-5) lost to the New York Islanders (30-36-12) by the score of 6-2, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.
...second game in a row with the season on the line the Rangers are entirely outworked. Inexcusable. Torts has to get the blame for not having this team ready for either of these games.
...and don't let the 1-0 lead fool you into thinking the Rangers had this game under control because if it wasn't for Lundqvist and foolish Islander penalties the game would have been over in the first period instead of the second.
...big time players are supposed to step up when the season is on the line and Gaborik is goalless in the last five.
...not a coincidence that the Rangers have been out-hustled these last two games while Callahan has been a no-show.
...where did the forecheck go?
...as good as the defense has been all year is how bad they were tonight.
...weren't we talking about the Rangers maybe moving up to fifth the other day? What the hell happened?
...might be time to sit McCabe who's giving the Rangers nothing right now.
...was Perry Pearn in charge of the power play tonight?
...another active game for Avery, but bad giveaway on the first Isles goal and he's got to bang home that chance in the second which would have tied it. Big momentum swing as the Islanders come back the other way and score two straight to ice the game.
...not a good return to the lineup for MZA with a -3.
...off until Sunday when the Blueshirts visit the City of Brotherly Love.
its the best road record thing i think. its like a curse. what the hell happened. we got destroyed. they get like points in 8 straight and we are in 8th i get depressed watching the games instead of pumped. man we need a turn around
i posted this on the other post, but this is the first time in my life that I've ever turned off a Ranger game before it ended..I was very disappointed.
if somehow the league suspends gaborik it could be a good thing... throughout the season they have played significantly better without him in the lineup
Absolutely inexcusable game last night. If that's the effort they're going to put out so close to the playoffs then they don't deserve to be in them.
A) I turned the game off after they scored their 5th. Possibly the most painful game of the season.
B) I am STILL pissed off about that boarding hit by Gabby. Stupid, stupid, stupid, what with all the press that bad hits and headshots are getting right now. And I honestly just don't understand how those penalties worked out and how he didn't get hit with a major.
C) Sometimes I think the Rangers are determined to break their fans' hearts every season. And mine will surely break if , after everything this tam has been through this year, they get knocked out of the playoffs because of these last two awful games.
Did anyone else feel like throwing up while watching that game? pathetic. I can easily sit here and pick out all the negatives of that game but i'm only going to throw out two. 1) We are stationary on the powerplay. We make it very obvious to the opposing team, where the puck is going to go. Makes the islanders penalty kill very easy 2) No traffic infront of montoya, especially when we had shots from the point.
Have to stay positive and just hope we get a MUCH better performance come sunday afternoon. lets go blue!
MZA looked bad on the powerplay, the whole team did I know but he really stood out at the point. No puck movement and he wasn't holding the zone. What a bad game
@ATCRyan To do that in Philly will be a monumental task.
@ATCRyan Don't care how bad Gabby's playing having him out of the lineup is not a good thing for the Rangers.
@Jpjm Yeah he definitely struggled. Not sure why McCabe, who was brought here to help the power play, wasn't on the ice instead.
@TheWrage with the way philly has played lately anything is possible. they did lose to atlanta last night after all...
@KevinDeLury I think he was in the box after the Gabby scrum
@Jpjm Thanks. Still him and EC on the point during 5-on-3 not a good idea.
