I thought I noticed during the Sharks game that at the very least the back panel was new, with the stripes on the white. But then on some replay of a save or something, I could have sworn I saw some sort of holograph-y, rainbow flash off the front of the helmet. Never would have guess that there was actually glittery-ness on there. Like Rex said, maybe it'll distract shooters.
Also, re: the white padding, that's just one school of thought. On the other side of the coin, if you have huge dark pads, does the shooter think there's less to shoot at and, in return, miss wide because they think they need a precise corner? Or maybe even skip the shot and pass instead? I don't think it matters much either way, and white is awfully boring.
I bet some shooters are momentarily blinded by those sparkles...or at least completely distracted by their fabulous-ness.On a related note, goalies should wear as much white as possible. It blurs the line for shooters as to what is padding and what is open space/net.
The glitter is pretty cool too. Reminds me of my clothes after visiting a strip club. ;)
my first thought about the number 30 was "oh cool they put his shutout count on his helmet!" but then I quickly realised it was his just number :p
However still think it's cool, the crown of The King with his shutout number in it. Neat!
I dig it!
Just saw the link in the game thread, was about to respond when I refreshed the page and saw this.
