Andrew Gross at Rangers Rants adds that McIlrath has been working out for the last four and a half weeks at the facility back home in Winnipeg. He said this offseason has been better for him than last year because he's been able to stay in a routine, as opposed to last year when he found himself doing too much "running around" after being the 10th overall pick in the 2010 draft.
McIlrath on his game...
"When I'm playing my best is when I'm keeping it simple," McIlrath said. "When I do too much, I have to pull it back. That's why the Rangers drafted me, to be a stay-at-home, solid defenseman. Obviously, I'm going to work on my other skills but my bread and butter is staying at home."
McIlrath will most likely be headed back to his Juniors team after camp in September.
...Fowler who? Really excited to see McIlrath progressing.
I love this kid's style and hope he lives up to first round billing. Passing on Fowler isn't so bad now, but if MDZ doesn't pan out, the lack of a true offensive D will be glaring. The Rangers have a lot riding on the cranium of MDZ.
@_Jack Not sure. Assuming he gets at least one game.
@gravey94 Pleasantly surprised by reports coming out of camp.
