Hank Fourth in Vezina Voting

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

vezinaLast night was the NHL Awards Show and while no Rangers took home the hardware plenty of them received votes including Henrik Lundqvist who ended up fourth in Vezina voting with 23 points. Here are the others via Puck Daddy...

Norris - Marc Staal (16th, 1 point)
Selke - Ryan Callahan (10th, 51 points)
Adams - John Tortorella (9th, 9 points)
Calder - Derek Stepan (13th, 6 points), Michael Sauer (17th, 1 point)
Hart - Lundqvist (14th, 19 points)

...surprised to see Lundqvist was 10 points behind Luongo, thought it would have been closer.

...and what's up with Torts in 9th. I know Lemaire (5th, 27 points) had a nice second half run with the Devils but they missed the playoffs. No way he deserves to be 18 points better than Torts.

Nice catch on Prust. Can't believe I missed that.

I was a little surprised to see Stepan so low, but then I looked at the list. Man, great year for rookies! Big kudos to Sauer for getting some notice in a crop of stud rookies.

BTW, Richards nowhere to be seen in the Hart trophy voting despite being in top 10 for points, just an observation ;-) If Sather stays away come July 1st, he should be in the tope 3 for top GM in next year's voting!

I think it's justified. The turnaround and near playoff miss was a larger gain than coaching a mediocre team all year. Plus Lemaire did it with an injury to their leading point getter, a selfish offensive superstar playing the trap, and the rest being an AHL team. This all coming from a Rangers fan with much Devil hate.

@billkeryc Appreciate the honesty, but the Devils didn't get into the playoffs while the Blueshirts did with as much if not more injuries. Plus numerous rookies playing important minutes.
