Kreider will not be leaving college this summer, no matter how development camp goes.
...Kreider has been pretty firm that he will be going back to BC next year, so I've all but given up hope that he'll be signing an entry level contract this offseason.
...oh well, here's to hoping he can continue to develop his game at the college level.
can we stop reporting on this now please? the next time there is a kreider-not-ready post to put up just title it, "Water is still wet..."
he isnt the second coming and for sure needs at least one season in hartford with the (pack) whale. shit. for all we know he may graduate at BC.
either way, yes, he is staying in college. we all know it. nothing to see here folks. move along.
Honestly Kevin I think BC gives him more freedom to work on his game, more time to refine his game and at the same time play for a high level at BC.
The main thing I would ask him to do at BC is to become more selfish with the puck, shoot the puck more and look more for his own offense. With his speed and creativity he could become such a dangerous player if he can create his own offense.
Not to mention playing for BC helps shield him from the watching eyes of NYR fans.
It is not a bad thing for him to play for the CT Whale but the moment he signs with the Rangers, Kreider is going to have every Ranger fan watching his every move.
Once Kreider turns pro then the expectations of his potential will kick in and because he is so touted, he will not get the luxury of a trial period.
Kreider is making the right call here, he did not dominate as one would have expected coming off his freshman season. If he goes back to BC then he should be looking at 1st line duty and a ton of minutes.
But at the same time, if Kreider shows up at the development camp then it gives the Rangers another chance to talk about turning pro. I would not be at all surprised if after camp he does change his mind.
Kreider is good friends with Stepan and Bourque, pretty sure both will be trying to convince their friend how great it would be for all of them to be together on a team again.
Remember McDonagh was just like Kreider last year expecting to go back to Wisconsin until he too attended the camp. Never say never
Not so upset about this. Would hate to see him go to the whale and struggle right outta the box. If he doesnt have the confidence now let's not force anything. But when he graduates he better be ready in a big way to make an impact.
@TheProspectpark Appreciate your thoughts on this Jess.
@TheProspectpark Jess, do you think he would develop better with the CT Whale? Maybe the system at BC is the reason he didn't dominate and he'd be better getting out of there. He looked pretty good at the Worlds.
