"I think if you ask any player in the Rangers organization, they would tell you that they are excited about the way the organization is going about things and that they are excited to get to training camp."
...everywhere I look Rangers players, fans and the front office seem to be genuinely excited for the upcoming season. We're so screwed.
I don't get the we're so screwed ?? I think we have a lot of reasons to be excited..I know you are down on the Richards singing but sure does feel like Messier over again.. a proven winner coming to save the day.. cant really say I felt that with any of the "bog names" we signed in the past... and I know some of you will say Gomez and Dru and youre right but I dont know doesnt feel the same... feels almost like we needed those guys to bust for Richie to come along and prove us all wrong.
I think the "we're so screwed" comment comes from being a semi-cynical Rangers fan. I love and adore this team, I have since I was little, but not getting anywhere in the playoffs since 1997, makes life difficult for us fans. We were supposed to win the Cup when we brought Drury and Gomez in to mesh with Jagr, that never materialized and we were left with only hefty contracts.
"We're so screwed", comes from being excited and being let down year after year.
This year is different in my eyes, beginning last year the team took a different road. I love the fact that we are excited for the right reasons this year. We have the up and coming youth, we have the youth we know we can depend on, and we have the guys that want to be here just to be here, instead of wanting to be here just for the money.
It was a joke. It seems like whenever everyone is excited about their team in the off-season it never works out.
@Lauren D.@andrewstamant29 Yeah, there's a sense of hope - a sense that the organization understands that a healthy system full of prospects is the lifeblood of the organization and will ensure that the big club will competetive year in year out. For anyone who's been a fan for more then, say, a decade, thats a welcome change.
@KevinDeLury@Lauren D. well I understand the reason why anyone would be cynical but this is competely different than any of the past 10-15 years.. this year we have more young talent thatn old grizzled vets playing out their days (do we have anymore of those ...no we dont!!) this is a year that people will recognize a franchise on the rise as oppose to a patchwork of ex-stars looking to cash in .. so I dont see the need for the we are screwed (i know it was a joke) thats why I asked what it meant..
