Callahan would become a UFA next summer.
Brooks feels that Brad Richards would almost certainly get the "C" under that scenario.
If a deal can be struck, Brooks feels that Callahan will receive between $4.5 and $4.75 per year.
Callahan's arbitration hearing is this Thursday.
...this does makes sense as I'm sure the Rangers would be very hesitant to name someone a Captain who could potentially be gone next season.
...having said that, no way a deal doesn't get done in the next couple of days.
Where are all the folks who were all over Dubi for not getting a deal done? I remember there were a load of people ready to decapitate Dubinsky nevermind not offer him the C.
Not sure about the "C" deal......but why not do a deal with Cally now...he deserves it don't you think?
Giving Cally the C would make him not bolt for free agency. His reputation would be tarnished forever. It's the same as Lebron leaving Cleveland.
Richards is NOT getting the C. He is not second in line, he is not 3rd in line. It would undermine the entire team philosophy.
@PuckCentral We like Cally better. Seriously tho, I think a lot of that had to do with Dubinsky's previous contract issues.
@scimoon1 It'll happen.
@CJ Just Brooks being Brooks.
