Rangers 1, Canucks 0

The New York Rangers (26-16-3) defeated the Vancouver Canucks (28-9-6) by the score of 1-0, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...that's a big time win against a big time team. Sure the offense is having a tough time scoring right now, but that's the type of effort and game it takes to win in the playoffs. A grind it out, hard working win. Very impressed tonight.

...and that game starts and ends with the play of Lundqvist. Sure the Rangers, as always, were blocking shots with reckless abandon but Hank was there to shut the door on one of the, if not the, best offense in the league.

...while Wolski is known more as a finesse player those are the types of goals he's going to need to be successful in the East. Use your body to get to the front of the net and score some garbage goals.

...first slew foots, now a spear? How are the refs missing this? I also saw at least three interference penalties not called on the Canucks. Just atrocious officiating tonight.

...despite the fact that I don't think Gaborik could score into an empty net right now, he showed signs of life tonight with six shots on goal.

...thought the power play looked real goal tonight, along with the goal it was constant pressure in the offensive zone on all three opportunities. Can we give Gilroy the credit?

...6:48 of ice time for Avery tonight. Really Torts? Really? If Rangers can find a taker for Avery I'd be shocked if they don't move him at the deadline.

...nice to see Malhotra finally helped the Rangers win a game.

,,,btw the Rangers are just four points behind the first place Flyers in the East. The Flyers do have two games in hand but wow!!!

...off tomorrow then Saturday night in Montreal.

Kev, You are constantly criticizing Torts for not giving Avery more minutes, and though he may have had a few good games lately I think that he was pretty bad against the Canucks (few bad turnovers, and only one time crashing the net and agitating). I think Avery deserves the minutes he has, and he is lucky to be on the team at this point. He is not the player he was before he was moved to Dallas. He doesn't score. I think Fedetenko is a much more influential player and deserves the minutes that Avery has lost.

@Stepanzeebridge Totally agree. No spots for him in the lineup other than 4th line. Would like to see him back with Gabby but Wolski has to get a chance b/c of his skill level. Sucks!!!

@KevinDeLury Perhaps you are right. 7 Minutes is not a lot. I just don't know who I would take off the ice to give him more minutes...

@Stepanzeebridge How can you say he had a bad game he played less than 7 minutes that's not enough time to play a bad game.

@Fleisch14 , I think the chants were less about players on either team (although the Rangers do have 8 Americans, not 3...) than it was about reminding the team/fans from the last Olympics' home city/country that American fans can care just as much about their precious games as they do, and that a team wearing red, white, and blue can still take down a team from Vancouver...

Was at the game,,,thought the USA chants might have been the dumbest chants Ive ever heard at a Ranger game...considering we have like 3 USA players in the lineup, and our best player (Hank) is not american...

it's great to see Hank back on top after a sub-par start to the season. you know he's feeling good and has his confidence when he gives his stick away. tied with Thomas for a league-leading 6 shutouts!
also...gotta love the USA chants. can't say i've heard that before.
