Audio: Del Zotto Talks Demotion

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

delzottoMitch Beck at the Howlings has audio of Michael Del Zotto discussing his demotion to the CT Whale and what he needs to work on to get back.

...the Rangers pp is putrid right now, might not be the worst thing to bring Del Zotto back up to see if he's learned anything and can jump start the offense.

...h/t to Canyon of Blueshirts.

Speaking of bringing someone up from the Whale, Evgeni Grachev had two goals last night.

Hey man, what about Jeremy Willams down at the Whale?

He leads the team in goals, but perhaps more importantly, he seems to be quite trigger happy on the power play, having scored 11 PP-goals so far. Something the Rangers obviously needs, especially at present, and as Torts nowadays seem to give anyone a chance on the PP it all of a sudden doesn't seem so farfetched to see a guy from the minors stepping right in to the Rangers PP. Just look at Zuccarello.

Also, with Callahan out I don't so so many pure right wing players in the lineup besides Gaborik (with current scoring issues). Williams also shots right and is prone break in towards the middle when he plays left wing, a la Stamkos. Again, Torts, who likes to change lines during the games and also swap forward positions, could use him here also.

I remember when he was with the Leafs, because he was this minor league guy that was callen up for a game per year, and always scored. Quite amazing, but he never got the full-on chance over a longer stretch with the Leafs.

I get your point in advocating for Grachev to be called up, as it is totally in line with the youth revolution to the Rangers. But I believe Williams, in difference to Grachev today, can actually compete for a jersey over time, assuming he gets a real chance and adopts Torts work ethic mentality. With a chance I don't mean the 5min, on the 4th line, he got earlier this season when he was called up against the Devils.

Just a thought.

@Maverick08 If the Rangers feel they need to bring someone up to jump start the O and they feel Williams is the guy over Grachev I'd have to trust them. Especially after what you just mentioned.
