Steve Eminger in tomorrow against Penguins with Michael Del Zotto as the healthy scratch.
Torts says Del Zotto will remain with the Rangers, even though he's a healthy scratch. Says Eminger has to play with "bite" to stay in.
...if the Rangers aren't going to play him, I'd rather he'd be with the Whale. Makes no sense to have him watching. He needs to play and figure this out. Very disappointed with the way Rangers are handling MDZ.
Update, 2:51 p.m.:
Andrew Gross tweets that Penguins bus got into accident today so players had to take cabs in full gear to practice...
...too bad HBO 24/7 still wasn't following the Pens. Film would probably be pretty funny.
Update, 2:22 p.m.:
@thenyrangers tweets this pic from practice...
Andrew Gross tweets out the new lines at practice...
...looks like Torts pretty much just picked these combos out of a hat. Not shocking that Avery again isn't on a line with Gaborik.
...also wonder why Torts hasn't tried Boyle with Gaborik.
MDZ has made far too many mistakes that have led directy to goals against that have ultimately cost us the game. I get very nervous every time he's on the ice when it's a one goal game or tied - which is pretty much every game every shift these days. I'm all for developing our youth but MDZ has proven that he's just not ready.
I have no problem with him sitting a game or 2...You need to keep Eminger freash as well with some ice time...I really dont understand what the problem is... This is why we have Eminger, to come in and give a guy a break for a game or 2...MDZ is the future for this team...its his 2nd season...its not going to come without growing pains....
il be honest i really like the dubi prospal gaborik line. id like to keep stepan and zuccarello together so i think avery should play with prust and christensen. the 4th looks good too, callahans battle in the corners with wolski behind the net to wait for callahan to win the battle and get it to him. boyle should park his freakishly large body infront of the net and wait for wolski to hit him with a pass or get the rebound, and maybe help him out when wolski has trouble in the corner if he gets there before callahan. always good to try new things but with the way torts shuffles lines its hard to find chemistry between a few players.
Watching a game or 2 isn't going to kill MDZ. Sometimes watching gives you better, big-picture perspective on things. If he's borderline NHL, as he obviously is, maybe he needs to see what the big boys look like when they play it right (or at least better than him).
Torts Has Now Officially Ran This Poor Team In The Ground..On Top Of Making MDZ A Head Case As Well As Others
@Fleisch14 Not trying to make too big a deal out of it, I just would have liked to see the Rangers come right back with him after a tough game so he knows it's ok to make a mistake. I have no problem giving MDZ a game or too off I just think this is a bad spot to do it.
I also just don't like the mixed message being sent:. Here what's happened to Del Zotto in the last three weeks:
1) Demoted to Whale
2) Brought back up due to Girardi injury
3) Torts says he's only up b/c of injury & still needs to work on things
4) Rangers decide to keep him up saying they now want to develop him in the NHL
5) Two days later Torts says that maybe they're going to send him back.
6) Decide against sending him back again.
7) Today they announce he's going to be a healthy scratch.
