McKenzie adds that a claim has not been pre-arranged with another team.
Andrew Gross says in his discussion with Glen Staher yesterday he did not rule Souray out.
Jim Matheson at the Edmonton Journal says if the Rangers aren't interested maybe the Dallad Stars are.
According to Cap Geek, Souray's cap hit would be $2.7 million. Souray's regular cap hit is $5.4 million, but by putting him on re-entry waivers it allows other teams to claim him for half the price. He still has one year left on his contract.
...i guess with Kaberle gone to the Bruins all the focus is back on Souray. Smart move by Edmonton putting him out there now after all the defensemen moving yesterday.
...scared a little by the fact that Sather didn't rule him out yesterday. Rangers not winning the Cup this year so claiming Souray makes no sense. Would actually set them back by taking playing time away from young d.
I gotta disagree with the idea that boucher and niemi "carried" their respective teams last year. Chicago and Philly both had very deep rosters and got their on the strength of their team, not one player.
The rangers also haven't played well against the flyers this year or tampa bay for that matter. They would likely need to run through both of them depending on how the playoffs were to draw out assuming they make it.
I love the young players and they are heading in the right direction but they are not there yet...
woahhhhhhh who's to say the rangers won't take the cup this year? All we need is a goalie who gets hot who can carry us there. Two of the biggest scrub goalies did just that last year in Boucher and Niemi. I'd still stay away from Souray anyway but even so i'm expecting this team to go deep in the playoffs.
@BrianMineola Can't criticize the positivity.
