"There is no timetable for Boogaard's return, but sources have said the 28-year-old winger is making progress toward a recovery from the symptoms that had plagued him following the fight and leading up to the All-Star break."
Brooks adds that It is difficult to envision Boogaard cracking the lineup at any point this season.
...Boogaard has been out for so long I forget he's on the team. Even if healthy, Boogaard probably would have been a scratch more often then not during the stretch run. He'd be smart to sit out for the rest of the season to get himself healthy for next year.
...while I'm still critical of his contract, I do think there is a role for Boogaard on this team in the future.
Hey Kevin, how's it going? I'm glad you put a piece in about Boogaard because there are still some Ranger fans like me that hope this guy can make it back in. I'm so sick and tired of reading these "white brashear" comments and all the other twisted stupid statements regarding this guy. Look, everybody knows Boogaard came in overweight and out of shape, it was tough to accept and he looked like he was skating in sand a lot of times. I get that, ok? But the coaches would have worked with this guy and conditioned him physically and mentally in order for him to compete in the East. How long are we going to ask or have Prust volunteer to step up for every situation where he's challenged and must fight or where he has to retaliate for something a guy did to us, while he's skating on a primary line and killing penalties...How long before Brandon burns out doing this? By the way, I don't use the word "goon" anymore, anyone who knows hockey is well aware that the more physical players in today's game have to skate, grind, check and be fairly adept and getting pucks on net. Like it or not Boogaard can and should fill a role for us, have a place to play and protect us, God knows we need a policeman. Rant over, thanks...by the way Kev, why is Del Zotto still here?
I'm not sure Boogard should ever play again. The basic rule with concussions is 2 days symptom free for every day of symptoms. So if doesn't have a timetable yet that means at least another 6 months. Plus if he does return, i'm talking next year mind you, the problem is his job isn't really to play hockey, it's to get punched in the head. Good luck finding a doctor to sign off on that one.
Boogaard doesn't fit the team mold and he has a long way to get there. Not sure why Rangers signed him to 4 years. Disappointing when we had two pretty good goons who could play a regular shift in Orr and Shelley but both were allowed to walk away.
@Kevin_Anthony Oh and no idea why Del Zotto is still here. Needs to be learning the position with the Whale.
@Kevin_Anthony Totally agree. As you state, Prust is hurting physically from having to take on enforcers much bigger than him and it's only a matter of time till he completely wears down. There is a situational need for Boogaard on this team, but man that contract is tough to swallow.
@Chef_Dave Good to have you back Chef.
@KCinMN98 Will never understand Rangers letting Orr go, especially when the excuse was he was asking for too much $. In Sather's defense Shelley wanted two years which at his age was too long.
