St. Croix to Get a Contract?

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

stcroix3Jess Rubenstein at The Prospect Park reports that Michael St. Croix (2011 - 4th) put up a four point night for the fifth time this season as his Edmonton Oil Kings won their 10th in a row on Wednesday.

Rubenstein adds that St. Croix has 48 points (17g, 31a) in his last 26 games, putting him on a pace to score 103 points which would most likely get him a contract with the Rangers at the end of the season.

...while it's great to see St. Croix lighting it up this season, very similar to Christian Thomas, you wonder if his size (5' 11") will keep him from being successful at the next level.

...and to validate that point, one only needs to look at his lackluster performance during the Traverse City tournament back in September.

Man.. why you gotta be so negative.. you do know Cally is 5'10". He's done pretty well :) and the traverse tournament is not the be all end all measure for a prospect's future. Players succeed and achieve at different rates

@G Just voicing concerns on the guy. I've had plenty of posts on St. Croix where I praise him.

Kevin, 5' 11" is decent size. There are a ton of elite nhlers at this size. Now Thomas at 5' 9" is a disadvantage

@TheKing It's not so much him, it just seems like the Rangers always seem to have way too many under-sized prospects.

However, starting to change a little with guys like Kreider, McIlrath and Miller.
