Richter to Play in Alumni Game But Not In Goal

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

richtersave_onbureDuring the broadcast of the Rangers/Devils game last night Sam Rosen announced that he had spoken with Mike Richter, who said he will play in the Winter Classic alumni game on December 31st.

However, Rosen added that Richter will not be playing in goal. But he will don his goalie skates.

...got to assume with Richter's concussion history he didn't want to take a chance. Can't say I disagree with his decision.

Speaking of the Winter Classic, Schuyler Baehman at NHL.com tweets this pic of the boards going up at Citizens Bank Ballpark...

Im confused, so he will play, but won't be playing goalie? Is he playing left wing or something? Or do they mean he will DRESS, but will not play?

Better than nothing I guess?
It'll be cool just seeing Messier, Graves, Leetch, Richter, and Kasperitus back from the '94 lineup

If he's not playing goal then what will he be doing?
